Welding
Rods should be dry-welded on a moisture-free surface. Pre-heating is preferred to reduce thermal shock. Use Fusion Ultra-bond welding rod, if preheating not possible fusion universal weld rod is preferred. If no pre-heat is possible Welds in restraint should be avoided.
Fabrication and Other Recommendations of Hardox
Welding, bending and machining
Max Steel works with SSAB Technical teams and follows their recommendations for wear plate preparations. Mild Steel Plates are prepared by trained Mechanical Engineers. Hardox for particular grades may not be suitable for further extensive heat treatments. It has obtained its mechanical properties by quenching and, when necessary, by means of
subsequent tempering. The properties of the delivery condition cannot be retained after exposure to temperatures in excess of 250 C.
